Vitamin A, or retinol is a fat-soluble vitamin. Beta carotene is it precursor and is converted into Vitamin A when it is needed. 

Description

Vitamin A has profound effects on the immune system and it's beneficial for eyesight, particularly in the dark and for healthy skin. That's why carrots have always been associated with good eyesight. Beta carotene is an antioxidant, beneficial to ward off cancer.

Deficiency Symptoms

Deficiency produces night blindness ,headaches, reduced immune function, skin and hair problems and kidney stones.

Carotene, whether alpha or beta, the precursor act as antioxidants and support the immune system. Vitamin A prevents cancer and beta carotene lowers cholesterol and therefore prevents heart disease.
The RDA is 800 mcg, equivalent to 2,700 International Units (IU).
Beta carotene is safe at all levels, but Retinol is toxic in high doses and should not be taken as a supplement by pregnant women.
Raw carrots are the traditional source of every day to stay healthy and ward off cancer.
Found in animal products like liver, eggs, butter and fish oils. Also found in red or orange vegetables and fruits, such as tomatoes, and peppers.
